The better choice according to the juvenile would be to go to juvenile court because their sentence would be shorter. I believe no matter what age you are, and you commit a crime that makes you deserve to be in prison for a very long amount of time, you should be sent to the Adult Criminal Justice System. Prosecutors who are in charge of criminal offenses, are given the power to choose whether a certain child should be charged as an adult in the juvenile court or the adult system. Juveniles should be charged as adults in the criminal justice system because it protects the public from any future harm and can lessen the amount of crime among adolescents. The Criminal Justice System struggled to determine whether to take the path of “leading a juvenile in the right direction” or “destroying the child”.
