Juvenile Justice Argumentative Essay
Too many juveniles are let off easy after committing very sinister and violent crimes. Juveniles who commit heinous crimes should all be tried as adults and placed in adult prison. It shouldn’t matter how old someone is, paying for their actions is the significant part.
First of all, if the juvenile fits in the criteria, they should be placed in adult prison. The five criteria of the justice system determines how severe a crime is, such as harming the protected classes and having possession of weapons. their previous delinquent history, possibility of rehabilitation,and previous efforts of rehabilitation. Third, if the juveniles knew that the consequences of doing such a sinister thing would automatically result in life in adult prison, they wouldn’t even bother. There would be less juveniles committing crimes. But they have the advantage because of their age. Some juveniles are in prison because of minor school offenses. That has to be fixed because that isn’t real justice. Juveniles who commit violent crimes have to serve time for what they did with no questions asked because that’s real justice.
The opposition’s evidence would be how the brain doesn’t fully develop until the mid 20s; how kids don’t have full control of their decision making and often make poor mistakes. But murder is murder, whether they’re kids or adults. They have to plan out what they want to do and how. It’s not some coincidence that juveniles brutally murder others.
