Minors are often immature when they commit horrendous crimes. Furthermore, they don't have an appropriate level of psychological understanding to make sound decisions. Trying juveniles as adults is wrong because juveniles are not mentally stable enough to understand that the decisions that they make can negatively impact their future, trying minors as adults hinders their growth as individuals and harms their productivity in the long run. Instead of juveniles being sentenced as adults for their criminal offenses, they should be obligated to participate in intervention programs. Juveniles don't have a fully developed mental stability to make sound decisions. Juveniles who are transferred to adult court are more likely to recidivate than non-transferred minors (Taylor). This information suggests that juveniles who are tried as adults are more than likely going to become repeat offenders. Prosecution of juveniles in adult court significantly impairs earning capability well into adulthood. The whole idea of incarceration is to prevent juveniles from committing more crimes, not to further harm their chances of earning a good paying job in the future. If a minor is unable to find suitable employment to take care of him and her in the future, then they are likely to resort to criminal activity to make ends meet. When this happens committing crimes becomes systematic for that person’s family. This is because the kids that have to go without their needs because one of their parents cannot provide financially for them will likely begin to commit crimes to provide for themselves. This information proves that when minors manage to get criminal charges on their records at a young age, the amount of money that they can make in the future is decreased
