The minimum voting age should be lowered to 16
The decisions of political leaders affect the lives of numerous young people in today’s society, including the bulk of high schoolers in America. The right to vote is a considerable privilege and should not be limited do to the opinions of older people thinking the youth of this generation is not mature enough to make a responsible decision that contributes to this country. Voting should not be restricted to the age of 18 and above. Studies show that laws are passed to alleviate the everyday lives of ALL Americans, not just the adults; therefore the voting age minimum should be lowered to 16.
As mentioned before, today’s politics involve crowds of young people. High school students are finally coming to the recognition that the verdicts that this country’s leaders make, do in fact have to do with them, as well as other teenagers in the majority of high schools in the U.S. Schools these days are for the most part up to date on politics, but often don’t teach …show more content…

At age 16 teens can do almost everything for themselves, including; driving, paying taxes, and for the first time, working without any restriction on hours, so it would be immensely reasonable to let them vote too. In 2013 Denmark conducted a study that 18 year olds were far more likely to cast their “first vote” over 19 and 20 year olds. The study resulted in showing that after teenagers turn 18 and register their “first vote”, the number of times they voted as they got older increasingly declined.
