Claudia Kolker’s book “The Immigrant Advantage” (Oct 2011) is a book that touched on the advantages of immigrants coming to the U.S. bringing along their customs, religions, teachings, and traditions. Kolker wants to inform readers that there are good things that come from immigrants like food, fashion, vocabulary, and customs. Kolker points out in her book that there is many ways that immigrants benefit to succeed from others in everyday life. For Example, “The Vietnamese Money Club” (Kolker 19) it is said that to start a money club you need people that you trust from 3-6 people at the least. They all need to pitch in a certain amount of money aside and who turn it is first they get all the money.
Immigration is deeply rooted in the American culture, yet it is still an issue that has the country divided. Marcelo and Carola Suarez-Orozco, in their essay, “How Immigrants Became ‘Other’” explore the topic of immigration. They argue that Americans view many immigrants as criminals entering America with the hopes of stealing jobs and taking over, but that this viewpoint is not true. They claim that immigrants give up a lot to even have a chance to come into America and will take whatever they can get when they come. The Suarez-Orozco’s support their argument using authority figures to gain credibility as well as exemplification through immigrant stories.

Poverty in Mexico is such a huge dilemma that plenty of their citizens died trying to escape. Some make it out, some do not but it all comes down to how bad they want to live the American Dream.
Experiences of an immigrant were different back then but there are also similarities between the time periods. The number of immigrants have been similar between the years. According to the article it states "three decades later there was again a similar amount of illegal residents of immigrants. This is explaining that the numbers of immigrants entering U.S haven 't changed a lot during the years, numbers have been similar. Alongside the route, there were various things or experiences that the migrants experienced. Basically, there were numerous accidents that they encountered for instance death as a result of being run over by wagons. Another one was accidents due to gunshots from half-cocked pistols in their wagons or from various individuals who at times used to fool around with guns. The workforce in most industrialized countries is aging and becoming more age-diverse. And immigrant workers play a large and important role in our economy and society. As child-care providers, food preparation workers, home health care aides, software programmers and construction workers, these workers constitute a significant labor force and provide services that millions more workers depend upon. Currently, I am working with a significant shortage of certified nursing assistants (CNAs) in our CCRC communities.
As a child I would always see my parents work hard for every dollar they made. When I reached my teenage years I realized that it was because they were immigrants to this country and took whatever job opportunity they could find. I also came to realize that I was an immigrant, and that life was tougher for not having the proper documentation. This year I fell into the biggest hole of my life. I learned that I was not going to get financial aid because of my legal status and my mother was also diagnosed with a tumer last month.
I was born in Guadalajara Jalisco and raised on a small ranch called Atemajac de Brizuela. My dad left when I was small kid, but came back when I was three years old. One year later my sister was born. Once my sister was born my dad decided to come to the United States because he knew that he had better opportunities here than in Mexico. Four years after that I came to the U.S.A at the age of nine not knowing a single word of English.

Ten years ago, I immigrated to the United States and ever since I have been an undocumented immigrant. Due to my legal status in the United States, I felt like I was restricted from certain situations and possessions and would never be able to succeed. I was not living the normal life of a seven-year-old. Instead, I had to learn to cope and adapt to a whole new culture. Even though the drastic change at such a young age was a challenge, it has shaped who I am today.
Initially, I have well-created communication aptitudes that have ended up being exceptionally useful over the span of my work in the health and social care environment. Now, it merits specifying the way that communication abilities helped me to set up positive relations with clients and give them health care as well as with advising administration.
