The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This novel is about James Gatz, a man who lives his life around one desire.The desire is displayed throughout the book, he wants to be reunited with Daisy Buchanan, the love of his life that he had lost just five years ago. Gatsby's journey leads him through poor living to wealth, into the arms of his beloved, and in the end to his unfortunate death. This book has come back in schools due to its insight about idealism, social classes, and wealth that still remain relevant today. Students that have read this book show more understanding of social class as well as social location. He has missed out on a lot in life and has passed up some great opportunities for his one true love. Toward the end of the book, Daisy is put on the spot and asked which man she will choose. She loves both of them but ends up with Tom because he has always been wealthy and never had to work for his money. Her decision beats Gatsby, but he continues to live his life. Unfortunately, there was an accident resulting in the passing of Myrtle. Tom planting seeds in innocent heads ruined Gatsby's life. Tom had told Myrtle's husband what car he drove; in the end, everything was miss spread, and Tom was full of lies, unfortunately ending Gatsby's life. Myrtle's husband took matters into his own hands, his wife had been murdered, and he wanted to get to the bottom of it all, ultimately killing Gatsby and himself.
