Face is closely related to self-esteem and self-confidence, therefore, in verbal communication; almost everybody pays much attention to their faces, especially men. As a significant way to express oneself, verbal communication, have the ability to express and embody masculinity. This essay is based on the Face Theory of Brown & Levinson and Hu Xianjin, using this theory to analyze the behavior of male language in verbal communication, and then to the influence and the causes of this phenomenon.

Furthermore, some female words, such as, “approximately”, “probably”, “may be”, “nearly”, which are seldom used by men, otherwise, they think it will leave others the impression of vacillation and lack of resolution, losing dignity and face. And importantly, people generally have an impressive impression on these decisive men who make decision candidly and make comments directly, on the contrary, the mass look down upon these men who are irresolute and hesitant. On the one hand, the society has endowed them the way of expressing themselves. Living in the society, people cannot exist independently, but must follow certain social norms, and from the gender perspectives, the society endows the male and female with different roles and statuses, which they are needed to comply with. When they are young, the parents have cultivated them with the corresponding roles and statuses. For boys, they impart them to the social norms that the society needed them to follow, including their standard of manners, they are required to be powerful, decisive, positive, confident and masculine, therefore, their roles and statuses must be reflected in their language use, so that the male language tends to be full of masculinity. On the other hand, group psychology also contributes to the phenomenon. Group psychology is a universal social psychological and behavioral phenomenon. Almost everyone has the group psychology, thinking that the behavior that the vast majority people follows is fashionable and they must follow too, instead, they will be ridiculed and excluded. Under the influence of the social environment or under the pressure of the group, men are sensitive to society's evaluation of them. Furthermore, they will use their authority to enforce others to accept their standpoints.
