Today in the United States, the dilemma with immigration is immense. The United States does not want immigrants here, they are not American. Immigrants are people who travel to live in a foreign country. To the United States, immigrants are people who should not live here because they were born in a different country, therefore, immigrants do not belong here. The U.S. think immigrants are here for bad intentions. For example, the U.S. believes immigrants will take Americans jobs away, cause harm in the society by committing crimes, or cause the U.S. to become overpopulated. To me, immigrants come here to the U.S. in search of a better life. What I mean by a better life is by having a better job, providing their children with a superior education, …show more content…
It would be devastating if they were to deported back home. In the article, “The Facts on Immigration Today: 2017 Edition” by Michael D. Nicholson, an English journalist writes in an article based on immigration. In this article, Nicholson states, “More Mexican immigrants are returning back home than arriving in the United States”(Nicholson para. 7). Immigrants returned back home due to deportation, they were unauthorized immigrants. Immigrants are not here in the U.S. to cause harm, but to look for better opportunities than the ones they used to live in before. I believe these immigrants should be allowed to stay in the U.S. to continue to benefit from those opportunities they receive. Opportunities such as a stable job, home, education and saftiness. Others might oppose to this because Americans like to believe their jobs are being taken away by immigrants. Americans want first priority with jobs here in the U.S. since they were born in this country and believe they have every right. Yes, they have every right, but so do immigrants because they want to be able to have a job and home just the same as Americans do. Everyone in this world should be treated equally and should be given rights equally no matter who the person is. Whether he or she is an immigrant or not an immigrant, he or she should be treated the way any human should be treated. Therefore, immigrants should …show more content…
have a family they are responsible for and are in charge of making sure they are financially stable to go on with life. Many Americans simply fear immigrants and see them as a threat to America. Immigrants really are not how Americans make them seem. In the article, “Our Fear of Immigrants,” by Jeremy Adam Smith, a founder of a fathering blog and editor of a magazine company, focuses on why we fear immigrants. Smith mentions, “There are ways to conceptualize immigration, not on a deficit model, but as bringing in skills that grow the economy, potentially growing the pool of what goes around”(Smith 753). Americans fear immigrants will take away the jobs in the U.S. because the skills that will help the economy grow. Immigrants have just as much skills and potential that Americans have. There are just some people that are willing to work more than other and in this case it happens to be immigrants. Though, this should not be a reason to fear immigrants and dislike immigrants. Americans should be happy that immigrants are helping the economy in the U.S. grow. When Americans start to think that immigrants should go back from where they came from even after building a life here in the U.S., they should think about their families. I agree with Smith when he says, “When shaping immigration policy, we should be holding in front out minds that we’re talking about real families, real kids, who have hopes and incredible stories”(Smith
