Imagine a world where books are burned and illegal and the only way you can get your information is from TV and radio. Censorship reduces happiness and lack of knowledge in society because censorship makes people not think for themselves and makes them addicted to technology. Showing the power of censorship does not rule them, but they still follow it. This quote shows how people outside of society deal with books and how it's similar to society. “We’re book burners, too. We read the books and burnt them, afraid they’d be found.”(Bradbury 154) The group of outsiders that escaped society's censorship did not. They may have the privilege of reading books. But they still fear the rules society has set out. Their leaving society shows their desire for knowledge. But the burning afterward shows a measure to protect themselves from the society they no longer live under. Showing they may not live under the censorship of society, they still follow it. We also see here how they plan to share the information they get from the books with other people. “If not, we’ll just have to wait”. We’ll pass the books on to our children, by word of mouth, and let our children wait, in turn, on the other people” (Bradbury 155). Books here are seen as cultural and some type of legacy. By them, burning the books is oppressive to authorities. And limit their access to information and ideas. The passing of the books down word by word shows an adaptation to censorship. In this book, they keep people from challenging their thinking so they can’t be smarter. Bradbury shows in this book how Montag breaks out of the censorship in this world. We see in the beginning Montag thinks books are bad for the world and they should be burned. Then in the middle of the book, he steals books so he can learn from what books have to teach. Then we see at the end of the book Montag wants to share the ideas books have to share. He would not even be with his wife and run away from society to be able to read books. Bradbury develops this theme of censorship by showing how the main character Montag changes as a person and breaks out of censorship. To show how censorship is in this world. Even though this book was written in 1953, we can see its story coming to life. While in the world, we still have books. We see some get banned because they make people angry. We see the seashell headphones are like AirPods. People don’t read the newspaper to get their news anymore, people only get their news from the news shows and media, which is because it’s quick and easy. So maybe we're living in a world like Fahrenheit 541 but we don’t know it because of censorship in our
