Fahrenheit 451 contains many dystopian themes and ideas to make the world come to life. The machines have caused people to rely on them. The government insists on controlling everything such as books. These ideas show just how bad the future could become, but people must find a way to stand up against these things. Everyone doesn’t always have to use violent methods either things can be accomplished peacefully. People need to stand up for what they believe in and fight hard for it.
In Fahrenheit 451 books are outlawed. Any person with books is evacuated from their home, and their books are burned in their house. The burning of books is a form of censorship by this book’s government because they are trying to limit people's knowledge. Montag’s wife Millie is completely controlled by the TV’s built into the walls and refuses to do anything besides watch TV. Montag realizes this and tries to snap his wife out of her reliance on TV, but she doesn’t budge and continues on letting the technology control her. This idea relates back to WALL-E when the humans every move is made by the machines. People shouldn’t let themselves become engrossed in technology such as Montag didn’t. The government in this story uses the Technology and TV to brainwash and control their citizens. Technology can be good sometimes, but when it is too much it can ruin or even control someone's life.
In conclusion, Ray Bradbury’s story shows that censorship, government control, and Technology reliance are all things to avoid. These ideas and ways of manipulation cause some people to lash out and some to simply sit in the shadows. Like Montag in the story strive for something better, strive for a life worth living.
