Life sucks and it ain't getting any better, because we live in a dystopian world. A dystopian world is a world in which there is great suffering or injustice. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Breadbury, it describes a world in which technology surrounds us 24-7. Their society also burns books to suppress new ideas and help keep everyone happy. The government also helps control you by destroying the public school system, just giving you information they want you to have. In the end, bombs are thrown into the city, leaving just pebbles. There are lots of similarities between our world and Fahrenheit 451’s. For example, the government has censored both our worlds to help keep everyone happy. One thing that connects our world to the novel world is how fast we drive. Fahrenheit 451’s world has a minimum speed limit, which means if they don't go fast, they will get in trouble. In the novel Ray Bradbury writes “I sometimes think drivers don't know what grass is, or flowers, because they never see them slowly” (Bradbury 9). This quote is from Clarisse, and she explains how people go so fast that they can't even see grass. Our world isn't this bad, but cars are getting faster and we will pass another law to increase the speed limit like in 1974 by the president. Our world is getting more technologically advanced so we will get faster and that will lead to higher speed limits which is very scary based on the drivers we have nowadays. Another thing that connects our worlds is the advancements in technology, which are both growing at a faster rate than ever before. Both our worlds now have robotics being used by the police.
