Fahrenheit 451 Reflection Fahrenheit 451 is a political and dystopian novel focusing on one, Guy Montag. Montag is a firefighter for the city, except he is not an ordinary fireman. In this futuristic society, firemen do the burning. Firemen burn books so people are happy, but not happy. Montag has to choose if this society is good for the people. Fahrenheit 451 involves censorship, character development, and technology's role in this futuristic society. The theme of censorship goes on throughout the entire novel. Censorship is the government control or prohibition of all books, films, news, and more that are a threat to their society. Montag does not like censorship and thinks it is hurting society. I can’t talk to the walls because they’re yelling at me. I can’t talk to my wife; she listens to the walls. I just want someone to hear what I have to say. And maybe if I talk long enough, it’ll make sense. This shows that Mildred is very addicted to technology and Montag feels alone about the books until he meets Professor Faber. Fahrenheit 451 shows the reader the dangers of a technologically advanced society and the loss of individual thought. I don’t recall many things in this book relating to me, but then I glanced over it again. I realized how rebellious Guy Montag is in a society that he does not agree with. Now I feel like this kind of relates to me due to the fact that I like to be different in my life and that is basically what Montag deals with. Other than that, I cannot really conjecture anything else about this novel that can correlate with me.
