In the adaptation of the novel Fahrenheit 451, very specific actors and celebrities were chosen to play the lead roles in the movie. The producers chose James Harden of the Houston Rockets to play Guy Montag for many reasons. James, like Montag, went from just contributing in his society and going along with what other people said and being a small role, to breaking out and being a greater role and an influence. Once James Harden left the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he was suppressed by Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, he left and joined the Rockets and became a superstar and someone who mattered in the NBA. The book Fahrenheit 451 is about a man named Guy Montag. Montag works for the Firehouse as a Fireman, but Fahrenheit 451 is set in the future. A future where Firemen do not put out fires, instead they start them. These firemen set ablaze to only books. They set fire to books because they are wrong, evil, and corruptive.
In Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, Montag, the protagonist and book burner, battles between the light and dark sides of society, first with Beatty, his boss, and the government and then with Clarisse, a neighbor girl and Faber, an English professor. Guy Montag in Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury best epitomizes a hero, compared to the boy in “Run Boy, Run” by Woodkid and the speaker in “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley, because Montag is trying to help everyone not just obtain one goal, for himself. Montag goes through the twelve stages of the hero’s journey during the story. Those stages can be spilt up into four groups; the first being, call to adventure. In Montag’s ordinary world he is a firefighter who burns books. In his town having books is illegal.
Societys that have a set standard that have a set standard that everyone follows, set an idea that if people follow these rules then they will be happy when actually the people are miserable with their life. In Fahrenheit 451 Bradbury reveals how montag follows every norm that society has, yet is miserable in order to suggest how societys norms contort the minds of many to think they are happy when they are not really fullfilled. Bradbury introduces montag as a guy that follows all of societys norms set forth to give the perfect life, yet his perfect life isnt perfect at all since he is miserable. Emphasizing his feeling of saddness Montags realization of his true feelings become apparent through him wearing “happiness like a mask” like a true unhappy person would do (Bradbury 9). This simile of him using happiness as a ask, brings to mind someone becoming the mask they wear.
