America failed the constitution in world war 2. The constitution starts with “We" the people. “We” as in everyone no matter race or gender. Well in the 1940s America seemed to think “We” meant only white men. During the 1940s racism and sexism were part of day to day life. Many people believed that women and black people were below them. This carried into world war 2. During world war 2 the only people given opportunities or were represented were the white males. During world war 2 Japanese Americans were sent to “relocation” camps, Segregation of African Americans, and giving women mediocre jobs. Franklin D. Roosevelt famously called it “a day that will live in infamy.” This “day of infamy” would mark the start of the injustice of Japanese American in world war 2. Not shortly after on February 19, 1942, Franklin D. Roosevelt passed Order 9066. Which made “all persons deemed a threat to national security” mass removed on the west coast. Where did they send them? The government sent them to “relocation” camps, or increment camps. This affects even those who were 1 16th Japanese, those born in Japan, and born in America with citizenship. This process took months but all together they put an estimated 120,000 Japanese Americans into increment camps. 70% were American citizens. During world war 2 over 200,000 women served in the US milliray. Although women were serving in the war they were still not seen as equal to men. Women of America were happy and proud to fight for their country but instead, they were faced with Nationwide rumors and dirty jokes Implying that women in the military were either sexually promiscuous or lesbians. These hateful jokes and rumors soon spread to civilian communities where even the news joined in on these hateful and ridiculous jokes. A Federal Bureau of Investigation report determined it was US servicemen, not German agents, who invented and spread the rumors about the women, who were only responding to their perceived patriotic duty.'' As we can see from the quote it was our own US troops putting down our country's women. And just the same as in world war 1 when the war was over women lost their jobs or were demoted. It's also important to note that the only reason women were given the chance to work was because they ran out of white men. So America didn't really include women in the war because the only reason they even considered them was that they ran out of white
