Roman Empire, the one of the greatest civilization ever existed. The empire lasted for just little over 500 years when it started out in BC 27 under Augustus’s rule, in 476 comes with the death of C.E. Romulus, the last of the Roman emperors in the west, was overthrown by the Germanic leader Odoacer, who became the first Barbarian to rule in Rome. What happened to the empire that made it fallen? There are many aspects we can discuss about but what I want to focus on is the problems Roman military has faced which led to the inevitable fall of the empire and the possible strategies that may could have saved the Romans. Needless to say, Romans were the king in Europe. Roman’s army doesn’t dominate through large number, instead they are well trained and with good armor and weapons. Augustus at the time expanded the empire in all directions and restored piece in places like Gaul; Spain; Germany; Greece and even part of Africa. Augustus was really wise when he conquered Greece, instead of making it a providence, he handed it over to decedents of royal family in Greece. By doing so, he minimized the possibility of rebellion is Greece and at the same time it’s technically still under the rule of Romans, it set up a benefit romans had which was the grain supply. In order to supply massive grain consummation in Rome, Roman had to import grain supply since southern Italy could no longer provide enough supply, the majority of grain supply came from Egypt. However, after widely expanding, Augustus came to a realization that the massive land that Roman’s had were big enough for Romans and has reached Rome’s maximum resource capability to rule and any further expansion might not be ideal so he told the later emperors do not expand but do protect the
