The information of this assessment came from the client and his parents. The youth is first interviewed alone and given two assessment OYAS and MASYI-2. Next, just the parents are in the room for their interview and then they all came back in together, this process takes about 45 min.- an hour to complete. We use information from the assessments and prior history from our database to assess risk areas. Since the PDR is done in the intake process and new issues may arise there is an update to the PDR as well as case notes that anyone working the case has access to. If there is any information that was missed, the intake officer would get that information from the client or his parents. The communication is very open in this case, however, if the client and/or parents were resistant and this information was critical we could make a referral to Child Protective Services or the judge could court- order the release of information to the agency. The client is a fifteen-year-old male who was previously on diversion for Possession of Marijuana, which was successfully completed. The probation officer will meet with the family to create a case plan with goals and objectives, at this meeting they create goals and intervention to obtain those goals along with a time frame for the goals to be completed. These goals can be revised, add new goals or not agree with some of them after all the goals are agreed upon by all parties, it is signed by the probation officer, the juvenile, and the parents. The case plan has many domains such as behavior, medical, educational, pro-social, mental health/AOD, peers and family that are discussed with the client and parents.
