The media is often a reliable means to obtain information about crime. Information can usually be surmised as to whether the crime is violent in nature or property related and many times offers identifiable markings of the victim as well as the perpetrator of the crime. Visual representation is an effective medium to evoke sentiments of outrage from the community or many times can be used as a resource to assist local law enforcement in solving those crimes that are difficult in nature and may need outside pressure or witnesses to break a case wide open.

There is prostitution, drug exchange, theft, pan handling and numerous other crimes at any given time. So what is the answer in dealing with issues concerning crimes that are violent in nature as well as crimes that are not. My belief is the first step is interaction at home. I have seen the family dynamic diminish as a nurturing and vital safe place. The family dynamic has shifted from being family centered to the hustle and bustle of worldly affairs. The time of family dinners and engaging about how the day went are long gone, and has been replaced by fast food in front of the television. The school system has been inundated with standardized testing instead of allowing teachers to actually engage and inspire their students. How can we as a community expect to change things when the family dynamic and education is fundamentally lacking in so many areas? When I think about the crime that proliferates the news it infuriates me and causes me physical discomfort. It seems for every answer to a solution obstacles seem to appear. Should we have harsher penalties? Should we decriminalize some things like marijuana use? Or are we
