Amadou Hampaté Bâ is extremely detailed throughout the book, The Fortunes of Wangrin, in explaining the colonial world in West African societies. He provides multiple examples in this work of fiction that precisely describe the factual aspects of African colonialism that we have discussed in class. I will point out a few of the examples that Bâ uses such as: limitations colonial governments set on Africans, the Métis relationships within colonies, and issues that arose, not only between Europeans and Africans, but within the native African communities as well. I will then point out certain details from the book that do not perfectly reflect the components of colonialism that we have studied in lecture.
To a fairly large extent the movie Mao's Last Dancer was an accurate and thoughtful depiction of the propaganda, chaos and turmoil of the Cultural Revolution in China. However, terrible acts of violence and torture that characterized the Cultural Revolution were not as prominent in the film. However; the film still remains a fairly accurate depiction of the time period 1966-1976 as it accurately portrays the propaganda, education, and arts revolution of the Cultural Revolution. The Cultural Revolution was mainly aimed at the youth of China who Chairman Mao feared would "make peace with imperialism" and abandon the ideals of the Communist revolution (Source C).

The novel, Red Scarf Girl, shows a coming of age experience in the main character, Ji-Li Jiang also wrote a memoir about this experience. She goes through hard times in the Chinese Cultural Revolution, which was started by Mao Zedong (also known as Chairman Mao) in an effort to spread communism throughout China in the mid-twentieth century. Many people supported this, as Mao used propaganda to make people believe that the Cultural Revolution was very beneficial. Ji-Li’s family was rich, which was not supported during the time of the Cultural Revolution. The Cultural Revolution caused Ji-Li to have a coming of age experience as she went through the experiences.
Male masculinity is an important concept around the world because it demonstrates and justifies the male authority over female. Throughout history the concept of polygamy is not uncommon in many cultures, and while the elite class in imperial China might have practice polygyny, several wives sharing one husbands, something that was consider as normative, it has brought to my attention that the lower class was involved in what society deemed as taboo, polyandry, the act of one wife with multiple husbands. Although polyandry bring shame and dishonor to the husband’s family, as implies in Matthew Sommer’s Polyandry and Wife Selling in Qing Dynasty China: Survival Strategies and Judicial Interventions, it seems like these husbands were forced to

China’s healthcare has been through a roller coaster of reform, impacting the health of every citizen throughout history. The country has endured many impactful changes with the large shifts in power, eventually leading to its current healthcare system today. Personal Statement I would like to confirm that it is my motivating of Chinese culture that ignited my passion for cultural and creative industry. As a Tourism Management major student, I was able to explore the Chinese diversified cultures and landscapes, which offered me an insightful understanding of the Chinese cultural development. Under the guidance of commercialization, some cultural heritages have developed into huge tourism souvenir markets full of counterfeit and shoddy products. The over-commercialization reveals the fact that the Chinese culture is facing a severe situation. The country calls for a better cultural development strategy, which cultural and creative industry can offer.
