It is family oriented and attracts local consumers by providing an arcade, bowling alley, cinema, laser tag, and sports bar. The actual casino area attracts people from all around. There are numerous slot machines and card tables. There is also a hotel with a large pool area for hotel guests and conference area for business meetings. Even though it lacks the traditional cultural and historical aspects of the Choctaw Nation, it changes local life and entertainment in rural southeast Oklahoma.

“King of the Bingo Game” is a short story by the 20th century American writer Ralph Ellison. The story is set somewhere in the northern part of the United States. The story was written in 1944 so it is most likely set in that time period. It follows the unnamed protagonist who has moved from the South to the North. He needs to win a bingo jackpot in order to save a woman named Laura, who most likely is his partner or wife.
“Stars and Bars” The confederate flag’s “Stars and Bars” means little to some, heritage for a few, but to others it is a symbol of racism. Confederacy is a part of our country’s history and should be preserved respectably. Recent shootings have brought attention to the Confederate war flag regarding the racist connotation it has towards a percentage of American citizens. When we see the flag flown by individuals we automatically assume that they are racist.

Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery and Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper are classic short stories that have a powerful effect on their readers. Through the plight of their characters, Tessie and the Jane, Jackson and Gilman masterfully introduce their readers to the harsh realities of cruel and unjust societies. Although Tessie and Jane are from two separate stories, they bare many remarkable similarities, as both women are victims of their worlds’ formidable and stifling traditions. Both of the women’s different approaches to their similar plights, as well as the treatment they receive from their husbands, create unique and intriguing characters for both stories.

Traditions have been sought after and passed on for generations; with no questions asked, whether humane or not, traditions are hard to break and diminish as they are often what a culture or community stands for. In Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery”, a story about the tradition of a small village, is painted in impeccable details of peace, and serenity on a warm summer day, as everyone follows the tradition they have known since a long time ago despite the true intentions and meaning of it forgotten. The Lottery taking place annually is like no other lottery, it paints the true picture of the horror that epitomizes the tradition that none of the villagers dare to question, despite it creating separation between gender and families and ruining

There are a few hints in the text that no one enjoys it, including, “ ‘Well, now,’ Mr. Summers said soberly, ‘guess we better get started, get this over with so’s we can go back to work. (p. 19, lines 169-171).’ ” and “She watched while Mr. Graves came around from the side of the box, greeted Mr. Summers gravely and selected a slip of paper from the box (p. 22, lines 238-241).” Shouldn’t a lottery be a joyful occasion? Why is everyone so gloomy?
The Survival Lottery The idea of the “survival lottery” helps maximize the amount of lives that can be saved by doctors. It allows doctors to receive organ donations from healthy people, who are randomly selected to die and donate their organs to medicine, rather than having no choice but to let the innocent patient(s) die due to a lack of readily available organs. The point of the survival lottery is to make sure that as few humans die as possible, hence why it is acceptable to kill one person to possibly save two (or even more). I will argue that is not morally permissible to institute a survival lottery because all people expose themselves to different amounts of risks during their respective lives.
Usually, when people express their beliefs on what the most important desideratum or possession in life is, they state whatever it is that they are lacking at the time. Whether it is health, love, beauty, shelter, family - when individuals think about what is essential, it is typically unavailable to them at that moment; that is why the most important necessity in life is self dependence. During these circumstances where we feel something is missing, we try to make others improve the issue and we often overlook that we have the power to make the change. However, being able to rely on oneself to solve problems no matter how minor or major will lead to a sense of triumph and true happiness. The song The Man In The Mirror by Michael Jackson
