When you go to a restaurant or fast food place, the first thing a customer sees is a delicious hamburger. And of course, that sounds better than a simple salad right? That is the problem today, advertisement. When someone sees a picture of a juicy hamburger they don’t think about what the burger actually has inside compared to how healthy a salad is. They only think about the delicious, juicy flavor it will have once they eat it. Companies need to start advertising healthier foods instead of unhealthy foods more often because obesity has become a huge problem in today’s society, especially for young kids. All three of these places have those delicious greasy burgers, but they don’t tell you how unhealthy they actually are. They put out advertisements everywhere to get people’s attention to go and try one out. They try their best to make the burger look good in pictures and commercials. That is what gets the customers to eat it. The meat in the burger looks so tempting to try out when you watch a fast food burger commercial. Then they add all the small ingredients to it such as bacon, cheese, mayonnaise, ketchup, and sometimes, double the meat. How could someone resist that type of deliciousness? Even the sound of it sounds better than a picture of a salad right in front of you. And to top it off they mention the great toy or prize that comes with it so it could catch a child’s eye. But, how unhealthy is it compared to a salad with ranch? It is extremely unhealthy. That is the problem with today’s advertising on food, the main point. Because they know people, especially children who barely know how to read, will not read it and see every bit of unhealthy ingredient it has. The only thing people look at is the big picture which is the one of that big juicy hamburger of course. A salad looks and sounds boring so why would anyone choose to eat that over a burger any day? It is very difficult now in days to make healthy food look and sound good. The big picture is the only thing that matters. People do not like to read every detail on the back of the food or how much fat it has or how bad it is for you.
