Father Flynn is also innocent because of Sister Aloysius’s different personality combined with the fact that she does not contain enough evidence to properly convict him. She exemplifies this role because she is a nun, and nuns are traditionally strict in the Christian Church. Sister Aloysius is also a principal for the school, which further implements her position as a strict nun. It is obvious that she uses her power to punish the students in the school: “Sister Aloysius: When William London gets a nosebleed, be skeptical. She personally attacks him by threatening to call Monsignor Benedict and by reiterating an intention for him to resign. However, Father Flynn believes that Sister Aloysius is ludicrous and out of her mind because she never saw the actual event take place. She keeps stating that Father Flynn can preserve his reputation if he confesses, but Father Flynn clearly has no intentions of confessing because he knows he is innocent. All of the people at St. Nicholas school overwhelmingly agree that Father Flynn already has an astonishing legacy and reputation already and that he would not tarnish it. Unfortunately, Father Flynn resigns, not because he was guilty, but because he simply could not handle all of the madness and pressure that Sister Aloysius proclaimed against Father Flynn. Sister Aloysius actually reveals to Sister James that she never was able to actually prove that Father Flynn was guilty, but she still claimed she was certain that he was guilty. Furthermore, Sister Aloysius even tells Sister James that she lied about Father Flynn’s previous history in a phone call just so that she can remove Father Flynn from St. Nicholas
