The road is a thrilling novel about a father and son traveling through a post apocalyptic world. Throughout the story the father and son have a transition in attitude and how they act from every life threatening situation they face. However what would happen if the father was replaced by a well known character from another novel and became the role of the father? In certain situations the character would have to make choices from their instinct, which can have a different result than what happened in the story.
In the novel readers had a sneak peek in what happened before readers got to know the son and father. The story explains that before the son was born the mother did not want to live in the post apocalyptic world and fight for her life. …show more content…

With what readers know about the mother is that she would rather end her suffering than try to deal with the cards she was given. One situation that the father had to deal with i believe that the mother would have killed herself right at the moment. The part of the story i am talking about is when the father took off his gas mask and had a bloody nose. With the way that the mother acted about the gun and bullets i believe that the mother would have killed herself. Also i believe the with the mother the child would not be able to mature because of how protective the mother was. Also at one point of the book the father and son find a random stranger struggling to stay alive. Even though romeo may at first though have no similarities to the father in The Road, however on second thought into detail Romeo has some very important similarities that could make him a replacement to the father in The Road and would have a similar conclusion in the book. One huge similarity is that they act right away on instinct. This character trait is one of the most important to the story. However i feel that even though they both act on instinct, Romeo jumps to conclusions. I think that once romeo gets the bloody nose when he takes his gas mask off if he replaced the father he would know that he was going to die so I believe that he would kill himself. I believe this because in Romeo and Juliet Romeo killed himself right away when he saw Juliet in the tomb. This shows that he acts without thinking which can lead up to him either getting killed or killing himself in the novel
