To where have all the black-footed ferrets disappeared? The black-footed ferrets have been endangered since 1967 in the southwestern corner of North Dakota due to loss of habitat and a depletion of their prime food source. First of all, the prairie dogs and the other animals that lived in their homes were the ferrets prime source of food. Secondly, the ferrets, like many other animals, used the prairie dogs’ burrows as homes.
Though desert temperature can become quite cool, it is very dry air. A snowy Kansas day is both cold and wet. I imagine this animal would want to avoid this type of weather at all costs. Not only would it be hiding in the back of its exhibit, it would probably nested in an even smaller enclosure to keep warm and dry. SPOTTED HYENA: (Africa, south of

Chapter 32 to 40 first began when Hazel tells all the rabbits to run away from the fox after a story from Dandelion. Africa is the hottest continent on earth where at least 60% of the total land surface is comprised of deserts and dry lands. Most of the continent sits in the tropics, and with the rare exception of the peaks of mountains in the Great Rift Valley, this continent never experiences a freeze.
Rattlesnakes are also living things that live in the harsh environment of a desert. One way they protect themselves is by using the rattle to ward off predators. They can live in the desert because they do not waste water through urinating. They also have a great sense of smell and taste allowing them to detect water far away.
The Sahara is one of the hottest and driest places in the world with temperature with highest temperature reached being 136 degrees, which is the hottest temperature ever recorded on earth. Space on the other hand stretches trillions of miles and its temperature between the moon and earth being as low as -454 degrees. These hurdles were passed with ships the Europeans used to go around the desert, and spaceships were used to go through space Another connection between these two frontiers would be why people colonized. In the Martian Chronicles “They were leaving bad wives or bad jobs or bad towns” to quote Pg 99 The Settlers.
The foxes are thought of to be responsible for the killing off most of the ground living animals in the last 130 years. (Red Fox) Any animal that is smaller that 5.5 kilograms is prey to the foxes, a single fox is estimated to eat about 400 grams each night. (Red Fox) Sometimes a fox will kill many animals during the night but not eat all of them, this can lead to serious food shortage for other native animals.

They are found in many different habitats: grasslands, deserts, tundras, forests, etc.
Per text, most people live along the Nile River, the coastal strip, Asian eastern and northeastern shores of the Mediterranean, as well as the desert oases in parts of the Tigris-Euphrates Basin and along the lower mountain slopes of Iran south of the Caspian Sea (Nijman, Muller, & De Blij, 2016).
The Sahel zone is a desert area in Africa at the southern boundary of the Sahara desert that includes parts of 11 nations (Godoy). In the African drylands, there is a huge problem of land degradation, called desertification. This comes from poor care of the land, such as overfarming or overgrazing, or global warming such as climate change and extreme weather. This desertification affects the 500 million inhabitants of the Sahel region, with consequences such as poor agriculture, food shortage and bad economy and lifestyle (Schleeter).
Throughout my journey to pursue my personal legend, most of the time I was in the desert. The desert symbolizes the deprivation, barriers, and knowledge that come across people who are trying to follow their dreams. I have learned that although the desert may seem to be lifeless and helpless, it is full of life and allows us to become prosper. What we see or find on the desert is different than what is below the surface, causing us to realize how valuable the desert is. I also learned that no matter where you are everyone is on their own personal quest, and during that quest they all have different ways of understanding and acknowledging what the world has brought for them.
The temperatures during the day, can reach up to 100 degrees fahrenheit, and this weather is very dry too from the unpredictable rain. So in some areas, it may rain up to three inches, while in other areas, it may not even rain at all which can affect people’s daily lives in the Sahara. In the text, it says, “Temperatures vary greatly between day and night. Daytime temperatures often soar above 100'F. At night, temperatures may drop to below freezing.” (Life in The Sahara 4) People adapt to this climate by having animals such as camels to help carry things from one place to another without having to carry it themselves.
