Burmese Pythons By: Eli Hernandez. Introduction: The presence of the Burmese Pythons is changing the Everglades with their growing population. Many of these pythons were originally pets turned loose by their owners due to their size and strength. Because of this, there are tens of thousands of these snakes estimated to be living in the Everglades, where they are living in a warm, humid climate and wreaking havoc on the ecosystems.
There are about tens of thousands of Burmese pythons estimated living in the Everglades. The main reason why these snakes are in the Everglades is because people thought that they could handle them as pets, but as soon as they kept them, they turned them loose into the Everglades because they could not take care of these snakes. This information states why these pythons are changing
“BLUE – WHITE –BLUE – WHITE,” shouts from the stands at the most awaited game of the year, the homecoming game. With support filling the stands from students, parents and fans alike the 2013 Rattler football team takes the field. Although a big part of the traditional homecoming game, football is not the entire reason we gathered this year in “The Snake Pit.” One of the utmost exciting moments of the year approached as halftime began, crowning of the homecoming queen.
“The Rattler” portrays the narrator’s moral conflict between his sense of duty to other people and his respect for all life through diction and anthropomorphism. The narrator describes hunting as “the sport in taking life”, showing disdain for the past time by implying that those who hunt do not value the lives of animals, adding later that hunting “is a satisfaction I can’t feel.” His thoughts show that he values the lives of animals just as much as humans. Another example is that after initially choosing to leave the snake alone, he then “reflected that … my duty, plainly, was to kill the snake” in order to protect the “children, dogs, horses, at the ranch, as well as men and women lightly shod.”
The Rattler In the passage The Rattler the author depicts the narrator of the story as regretful of having the obligation to take the life of the snake that could potentially harm others at the ranch. The author, throughout the story, uses literary devices and techniques to explain mankind’s power over nature. This is also seen as the narrator’s sense of duty to the ranch vs the respect he has for all life. The author’s diction throughout the passage is a clear indication and example of the overlapping theme of duty to the ranch’s inhibitors against morals for killing the snake for the man, the narrator.
In “The Rattler”, the sympathetic and accepting tones reflect the man attitude towards his actions in handling the snake to protect his life. In ‘The Rattler” the accepting and sympathetic tones are a reflection of the man’s attitude towards his actions in handling the snake to protect his life. The farmer wanted to take time to experience the pleasure nature has but stumbled upon the reptile. His decision to kill the snake was for the better of his animals and his life.
Sympathy and Empathy are words that are similar but very different in various aspects. Both involve feelings and feeling for something or someone and often can be used incorrectly. These feelings are very commonly felt by readers after reading narratives featuring relatable characters and some poignant subjects. The Rattler is a short story about two different sides, or points of view. The two main subjects of the story are the unnamed man, and the snake who happen to cross paths in a desert and things don’t quite end well for one of the two.
As a reward, the god provided a water source within cactuses throughout the desert. The new Apache tribe’s food sources were beginning to come back to life and their mass population began to grow again. Today, deserts are stretched with plentiful amounts of cacti all containing water. in addition, the red color that covers the desert symbolizes the bloodshed in the Apache’s defeat against the
Millions of people from all over the world have a few or many furry or not so furry companions inside their homes whether it’s a leaping lizard, a ball of fluff gerbil or even a cute pink miniature pig, however, majority of the pet owners are dog lovers or cat lovers, therefore, the most common and most popular pet that people have inside of their homes are the adorable head tilting doggies or the intelligent furry feline cat. Cats and dogs are the most popular pets to this day and many years to come such as the Maine Coon and the Chihuahua, therefore, both of these pets have similarities and differences between them but what exactly is a Maine Coon and what exactly is a Chihuahua? The Maine Coon cat is commonly known for its popular myth
All is quiet in the beautiful ocean then you hear a scream then you look out into the ocean and the only thing you could see was a shark tail. Older Than Dinosaurs? Sharks have lived on the earth longer than you think for example, over three hundred years ago sharks roamed in waters, that is one hundred million years before dinosaurs roamed the earth!
I only eat chicken nuggets if they’re shaped like dinosaurs. Not only do I find them ultimately cooler than regular chicken nuggets; I also find the irony of them endlessly amusing. The last line of dinosaur descendants is the awkward looking, buggy-eyed chicken, and instead of majestically ruling the world as real dinosaurs had once before, chickens are systematically bred only to be processed into dinosaur-shaped meat patties. If there’s anything more amusing than having a T-Rex-versus-Triceratops nugget war, it’s seeing the lineage while doing so. I don’t think many people contemplate the irony of the dinosaur-chicken-chicken nugget life cycle in the two minutes and thirty seconds that it takes to microwave a plate of six mini-velociraptor
In The Rattler the speaker’s rhetorical strategy is to use pathos to make the audience feel sympathy for his/her actions and to also use logos to give good reasons for his/her actions. The speaker is justified in killing the rattlesnake because he/she was protecting the lives of others while being courageous at the same time. In the third paragraph the author uses pathos when he/ she says: “But I reflected that there were children, dogs, horses at the ranch, as well as men and women like shod; my duty, plainly, was to the kill the snake.”
Reptile scales act as a protective layer to help prevent water loss from their bodies. Mammals are warm-blooded animals and reptiles are cold-blooded animals. Mammals are endothermic which means they can produce and control their body heat internally. Reptiles are ectothermic, they use their resources such as the sun to get
3. You may also sometimes hear your snake digging about in the substrate of their tank, but it is certainly fair to say that snakes are almost silent pets. (Transition : Snake is danger but it can be a good pet for everyone) Conclusion I. Snakes are beautiful and unique animals. II.
