Feyre, a girl who takes care of her family without reward or without thanks. One day she kills a wolf or worse a fey. Killing a fey will be punished, she knows this and still, she does it. She makes the choice. She gets taken by Tamlin, the high lord of the Spring Court. A life for a life, according to Tamlin. Feyre hates fey, she only know the bad things, she heard the stories and all of Tamlin’s court wearing masks is not helping their cause. Slowly but surely Feyre gets to know Tamlin, and falls for him. Tamlin thinking that he is protecting Feyre sends her back home because he loves her and wants to protect her from the evil Amarantha who has been ruling all of Prythian for over fifty years. If Feyre can prove through three trials how much she loves Tamlin, Amarantha will let them go. Feyre barely survives the trials, with help from the brutal high lord of the Night Court, Rhysand. Feyre and Tamlin go back home, but Feyre is not who she was. She was killed by Amarantha and turned into a fey and what Feyre had to do, she will probably never forgive herself for that. Feeling miserable and puking up her guts every night, Feyre tries to move on with Tamlin, but they barely speak and Tamlin does not let Feyre leave the house. On their wedding day everything changes, Rhysand shows up calling in his bargain -he made a bargain with Feyre under the mountain, he would save her life if Feyre would spend one week each month with him-. Rhysand takes Feyre to the Night Court and learns her to read and shield. Rhysand having the power of the mind tells Feyre that because of the bargain they made he can feel everything she feels, it is like a bridge between their minds.
