The way women in sport are portrayed is nothing less then sickening. Consistent and positive media coverage is one of the main goals of all sport franchises and administrations. The reason for this is straightforward, Sport and media are two of the most commanding influences that affect how humanity works. Media coverage can effect a sport in a number of different ways, It can create positive roll models and put that specific sport on the map for beneficial sponsorship prospects. How the media portrays a particular sport or athlete be it female or male can impact on the athlete or sport integrity. Research by the Australian Sport Committee shows that females are still struggling for reliable long-term coverage. In 1996 a survey took a portrait of the current media landscape at the time, The results showed that media attention of females in sport is treated very inversely compared to men. The survey showed the television coverage of women sport in the two weeks made up just 2% of all sport coverage. Radio coverage was also surveyed and showed a number of 1.4% of all total sport, while magazines made up only 6.8% of total coverage. While currently in 2016 the number has all most doubled with the percentage of 10.7% of newspaper sport pages devoted purely to women
