Catch 22 is a novel that tells an amazing story about how a solider and others, just want to go back home but many obstacles stand in front of them. In the story you see a number of things, such as: insanity, corruption, and absurdity of war. So as you can tell, there is a lot going on in this book. All these soldiers want to do is to make it back home but there are problems that stand in their way. Because of that, they start going crazy and start doing things to themselves just to go home. The author expressed in the novel the absurdity of the soldiers and the war, the meaning of the title, and the writing style. To start, In Catch 22 the theme of absurdity is shown frequently. But, the language is kind of appropriate because of the setting and year of the war. Catch 22 takes place in Pianosa, Italy in the year of 1944. So, as you could tell already the men aren't well educated with what type of language they use. For example, the men in the book are just grabbed at random once they turn a certain age to go fight war. Some of these men didn't have a chance to get an education so some of them aren't as well educated than others. Another example, Heller tends to be repetitive in things she said already. But every time she repeats a certain event we get to learn more about what happened. Although, we get a better understanding it can be confusing to the reader. Finally, in the book it said "They were like Milo's disunited eyes, which never looked at the same thing at the same time. Milo could see more things than most people, but he could see none of them too distinctly. " The type of writing style the author used is unique because he is telling us that Milo finally has an understanding of the world.
