Film Analysis: Pregnancy Pact
Love Is Never Silent When watching the film, “Love is Never Silent,” I felt sadden for Margaret, because as a kid living with deaf parent in a hearing world, she was forced to grow up fast. It must have been hard on her when she wasn’t able to share the knowledge that her parents are deaf, and have to code switch every time, never in between; never a balance. She must have felt out of place, alone in fact, as no one she knew was struggling like her, no one she can relate to. But luckily she got Mr. Petrakis, who I thought played a crucial role in her life.
The film “Gentleman’s Agreement” portrays Jews as second class citizens during a time period in America where bigotry is prevalent and the harsh discrimination against Jews has lessened their own pride and dignity while no one stands up for them. A surprising theme illustrated throughout the film was how the Jews themselves had a lack of respect or pride for themselves, such as when Professor Fred Lieberman wondered, “why the Jews among them still go on calling themselves Jews”. This passage is one of many showing how the Jews in this film have been mentally beaten down through hatred and racism, leaving many with less pride and dignity. Another good example of this is when Phil tells his Jewish friend Dave Goldberg that he’s pretending to be a Jew for his paper and Dave responds “Why, you crazy fool!”.

Rape on the Night Shift is a documentary about the sexual assaults that some of the janitors suffer while working at night. This documentary reveals the injustice that these workers have to go through because most of them are undocumented and they don’t know their rights. The experiences of woman in this documentary is correlated with the feminist theory, the idea of seeing women unequal to men and the idea of the men having the power to control women. Indeed, the documentary let us see the gender inequality, exploitation, and the de-valuing of woman’s work. We see the feminist theory in the documentary when the managers or supervisors sexually abuse of their workers.
The actors and actresses went through many scenarios to show the audience the importance of being smart and safe when having sex. In one scene, a girl realized that she was pregnant with a guy’s baby who she had only known and dated for only a short period of time. The girl was afraid, felt she was too young to have a child, and struggled with what she should do. She confided in her friend, and her friend scolded her for being so careless. Therefore, this paper will examine how the countries are similar and different in their practices of raising babies allowing the observer to see if it impacts their overall development. First of all, in the four countries observed, Namibia, Japan, Mongolia, and the United States, there were areas that were universal in the development of the babies.
