The three-part distinction of man is revealed in the Bible as being the spirit, soul, and body. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, “And the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete…” Differences between the soul and body are based on the nature. The soul is indestructible, unlike the body which can perish. Even though the body and soul are interwind together they each have different roles. The body is a shell that houses the soul. It is the physical structure consisting of flesh, bones, and blood. It is the tangible and mortal aspect of humanity. 1 Corinthians 15:44 explains the concept of the body and soul. It begins with “it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.” The human body is not eternal as the soul. …show more content…

Moes and Tellinghuisen ask an important question about the disembodied “soul” and body which is what happens to the “soul” (Moes & Tellinghuisen, 2014, p. 40)? After the body goes back to Earth until it is resurrected on judgement day; the spirit goes back to God. The soul is the spiritual aspect of a human being. It is the eternal and permanent aspect of the human conditioned. Scripture dictates that the soul consists of the body and the breath of life. Genesis 2:7 says, “And the Lord God formed man off dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul”. The soul is the area where the Adversary operates to appeal to the flesh of man. The soul is the area where human emotions dwell. The soul loves as well as it hates. It is in the soul where lusts, desires, and immoral appetites arises: we are meant to abstain from the fleshly lust that rage within the soul (Peter 2:11).
