The 1st amendment is fundamental in a democracy, it gives each individual their opinion about a certain subject and gives the people the "power" to speak out when they find something wrong. For example, they can speak what they find wrong with our Representatives, without the retaliation or censorship of the government. You might think that you can go down the street and say whatever you like without anybody telling you can't. Hold your horse right there be aware that you can say what you want but there is certain things that the 1st amendment doesn't cover. The Supreme Court has some cases where it decided where the 1st amendment was appropriate and where it wasn't.
The fact the founding fathers of the United States, risked their lives traveling on a dangerous journey in a hope of finding a place where they can express themselves freely without any punishment indicates how valuable this Amendment is and it is sad that it is not

The twenty-first amendment expresses the greatest amount of importance in the constitution because it repeals another amendment and assists in creating a big picture model of freedom in the US and the world. In section one of the twenty-first amendment the eighteenth amendment is repealed, ending the prohibition of alcohol in the US. The ratification of the eighteenth amendment start a slew of problems for the US with citizens creating their own alcohol illegally which in turn increased crime and gang activity. However, through the ratification of the twenty-first amendment the government was allowed to gain a better control on crime and the distribution of alcohol through federal, state, and local laws. The First Amendment is the most important, because of freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Many people think that the fourth amendment is the most important. They think this, because it is important for a person to be able to tell policemen “No” if they ask you if they could search your car or your house. I believe that the fourth amendment is really important, but you wouldn’t be able to tell the policemen “No” if you didn’t have freedom of speech. George Washington said,”If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be, like sheep to the slaughter” (“Famous Quotes Freedom of Speech”).Without freedom of speech and religion we are nothing.
Does the First Amendment go too far in Protecting the Basic Freedoms of US Citizens? Throughout the history of the US, there have been many situations where it was important that citizens of the US have the freedoms of the first amendment. If citizens didn’t protest for change throughout history, there would be many more issues with the US than the issues and controversies we have today. When the US first became a country, the goal of the framers was to have a country that was mainly run by the people and not by a strong central government such as what they had seen with the king in Britain.
The Second Amendment guarantees the right of the people to own weapons and the right of the people that every state no matter the size or population gets a well regulated militia. The first right was important to the people because they need self defense. The reason the second right was there was because that the town's needed protection from certain dangers. For instance the indian raids, which was a serious threat at that time.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech”. Some people in today’s time would argue the first amendment is one of the most important listed in the Bill of Rights. Many forms of speech are protected by the first amendment that one wouldn’t think would be such as flag burning and “adult videos”. Over the years there have been many different court cases that have debated and fought the forms of speech that are protected. Many people in society treat speech differently and this is given in the United States because there are such diverse groups throughout the nation.

The framers believed that it was necessary to have the ability to share ideas to have the government to be able to be a democracy. The amendment was then brought to the Supreme Court. Hugo Black gave his input by saying, “The Framers knew that free speech is the friend of change and revolution. But they also knew that it is always the deadliest enemy of tyranny.”
1st Amendment Wrangling There have been many supreme and district court cases that involve the first amendment. Your First Amendment rights are a heavily debated topic. Students, in particular, walk a very fine line regard to their free speech. Schools, students, and the federal government are still trying to figure out where they stand.
In 2007, after many appeals this case went on to the Supreme Court. On June 25th, 2007, the Supreme Court had a majority vote ruling for the principal and the school as they have the right to suspend a student who is demonstrating “pro-drug messages” which go against the school 's message (Morse). Frederick 's first amendment was not broken as his freedom of speech was limited at school. Marijuana at the time was an illegal substance, and due to that, Frederick was promoting something illegal.
The Importance of the 1st Amendment In 1787 our founding fathers assembled the constitution of the United States of America. Of this which contains the most important document to the American citizen, the Bill of rights. The first Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances” These freedoms granted by the Bill of Rights are often known as freedom of expression. The first settlers in America came to the New World to seek religious liberty. Taking a risk, they began their treacherous journey to an unknown land in order to practice their own beliefs without limitation. Later in the narrative of the making of America, the founding fathers drafted a constitution-- a collection of laws and regulations which set up the government we still know and practice today. Arguably the most important part of the constitution, the first amendment, gives citizens the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. These freedoms have been the backbone of this great country for centuries, has set us apart from other nations, and has shaped the course of American history.
The second amendment is needed in the society that we live in today. It would cause a lot of trouble if people tried to amend the second amendment. I understand that the trajectory for the right to bear arm is becoming narrow and people are starting to see an issue with it. With the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States free speech shall not be restricted, as in, Congress shall never make a law or abridge the freedom of speech, or of the press. However, if we look at the courts, they have ruled that freedom of advertising (which is a constitute part of free speech, can be regulated more strictly than any other form of expression) Which, then gives the state the proper authority to control the distribution of false/fake advertising.
