As time passed, the U.S. broke apart and wars started to form, which caused this war first. Many weapons were used during this battle, individuals would use canons and rifles, and individuals would also use railroads as a mode of transportation! There were two teams in this battle, the Confederates, which wanted to keep slaves. Then there was the Union, which was against slavery. McDowell instructed 35,000 Union troops to attack the Confederate forces of only 20,000, which isn’t fair. General Robert E. Lee ordered his troops to stay at a specific place near the Bull Run River. After the Union attacked the Confederates, the Confederates had fewer people but knew the map better of where everything was. With fewer people, the Confederate managed to beat the Union, which had twice as many troops as the Confederate! This war is known as one of the bloodiest battles in American history.
