Everyone is smart in different ways. But if you judge a fish a fish by it’s ability to climb a tree, it will live it’s life believing it’s stupid. In your book, Fish in a Tree, the main character Ally was just like that fish, and was judged by the way she learned. She may have learned differently, but who says her way of learning was wrong? Taking this into consideration, I was able to make many more connections like this to myself and the world around me. It changed the way I look at things, and I’m thankful for that.

As Ally went from school to school, Ally never asked for help becauses she was afraid of the outcome. She often told herself, “You can’t cure dumb, Ally. ”. I was upset by this, because even if everyone else believes you’re dumb, you shouldn’t believe it yourself. Also, I was wondering what example you are setting for your readers. If they see the main character in a popular book thinking that way, why shouldn’t they? This also provoked my emotions, because it’s never okay for anyone to think of themselves as “dumb” or “stupid”. This stereotype of people is the reason why we have so many hurtful and harmful people in our world. If we stop setting these examples and start sitting positive ones, we will surely live in a better place.
It is difficult to understand the reason why so many people in this world are too embarrassed about how they look, think, or talk. We are taught to behave and act certain ways that may not be “normal” for others, and the result is teasing and bullying. Fish in a Tree has given me a perspective I would have never thought about, both good and bad. In conclusion, this book has had a small, yet humongus effect on my life, and I hope you continue to write great books that inspire
