y discussion of the Five Pillars of Wisdom is in fact addressing the larger matter of religious beliefs throughout the country and the daily practices they believe are necessary for life. The Five Pillars of Wisdom are the guidelines for Islamic religion which set rules for Muslim’s daily life; from their eating habits to what they are expected to give. The first pillar represents the ‘Shahada’ which is the “profession of faith” where Muslims must confess that there is only one god which is Allah, and Muhammad is the pophit. The second pillar represents the ‘Salat’ which are daily prayers. Muslims are expected to be in “constant prayer” and pray five times a day. There has been many occasions where disaster and disarray has affected American people and Muslims were behind the attacks. The thought of Islamic hatred towards America became greater after the attacks from the Muslim group al-Qaeda on September 9th, 2001. The attack consisted of three targeted airplane crashes into the pentagon, the White House, and the World Trade Center. This attack put a greater fear of the Islamic culture in the hearts of the American people (www.gallup.com). Unlike countries in West Africa and Asia, the United States is a Christianity- based country, so most Americans immediately feel a sense of animosity coming from Islamic- based countries. A current issue pertaining to Muslim violence against America is the group of muslims call ISIS. They have kidnapped several American citizens, held them captive, and even severed some of their heads. There has also been cases where undercover ISIS members that were “American citizens” that had been communicating with outsiders in helping them to complete their missions of terrorism. As you can see, America has had a bad experience with the Islamic in the past which really leaves a bad taste in Americans
