These are cases of dauntless acts and they can change your life for the better. As an example, many stories and myths have these daring acts, with many having the potential to improve their life one way or another for their daring attitudes; consequently, one must also be daring to improve their own life. To begin with, being courageous can improve one’s own life or others’ lives. For example, the Greek myth “The Flight of Icarus” states that “several times [Daedalus] tried by bribery to stow away on one of the vessels sailing from Crete.” (6-7). For instance, in the Greek myth “Arachne,” the protagonist Arachne is bold enough to claim that “if Athene herself were to come down and compete with me, she could do no better…” (37-38). By audaciously proclaiming she is better than even gods themselves, Arachne might be able to gain respect from others for being daring. As such, it is possible that respect can be earned from others by flaunting your skill and claiming to be the absolute best — although you might not be, others may find your audacity something to be respected. Furthermore, another example of possibly gaining respect is when Athene herself comes down and accepts Arachne’s daring challenge, with Arachne then deciding that “she would not give in…” (58-59). Rather than meekly apologizing to Athene, Arachne decides that she should not give in and decides to go through with her challenge.
