Foot Locker, first shop appeared in 1974 in California, at the time controlled by Kinney Shoe Corporation, which had been bought by F.W Woolworth Company in 1963. From 1988 onwards Woolworth Corporation (New York) was then responsible for Foot Locker, however in 1998 Woolworth Corporation changed its name to Venator Group, and by 2001 as Foot Locker became their top performing brand, it was then renamed Foot Locker, Inc.
Through its history Foot Locker manage to become the leading global athletic footwear and apparel retailer, with more than 3,400 stores in 23 countries in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
