Another misconception would be that I am always angry or I am a bully when, in reality, I am a very caring, easy going person who gets along with everyone. I often laugh at these stereotypes when I hear them because I know they are exaggerated for the most part. My teammates and I have morals and respect for our fellow peers. It is easy to sit around and create these misconceptions about football players because you do not understand us or because of a few bad kids. However, the actions of an individual do not define a group as a whole. Football players tend to be labelled as immature because of their actions in the classroom or off of the field. His response was this, “They despise us because they are not us.” This makes sense because people tend to dislike what they do not understand. I asked him about some of the more common stereotypes as well. People believe that football players lives revolve around the sport, this is what he had to say about it. “It’s definitely true for some. I myself do not see myself as one dimensional. I revolve myself around many things such as wrestling, computers, and academics.” Our lives do not revolve around football as many of us have jobs, responsibilities, and other hobbies. He then went on to say this when asked if football players are self centered or stuck up. “A lot of my teammates have been very caring, kind people who would give me the clothes off their back if I needed it.” This student would like to let the rest of his peers know that not all football players are like the ones you see on the movies, and that we are much more respectful and considerate than that. This clears up some of the confusion when it comes to football players and their attitudes and behaviors. Most of these stereotypes and misconceptions have been over exaggerated throughout the years. People see the negative actions of a handful of football players and
