Our purpose for this project is to improve the max ability of kickers, and maximize the distance that the ball can travel on field goals. We hope to find what angles create the greatest distance, the materials that give the ball the most power, and the design that gives the ball the most precision. We have found, based on multiple NFL kicker’s statistics, that when the ball is kicked greater than 50 yards, the accuracy decreases greatly. In fact, in 1990 the percentage of field goals made was only36 percent of the 74 percent kicked over 50 yards. However, in 2013 that number increased to roughly 66 of 85 percent. This, of course, could have been that kickers themselves have had stronger legs in

The advantages in physical properties of kangaroo leather over that from cowhide or deerskin are related to the tight and dense fiber structure of the kangaroo skin, as well as the multidirectional orientation of the fibers in the skin. American football is full of physics. One of the most important aspects of American football is a field goal. Kicking a field goal is projectile motion, however it is not simple. There are many factors that alter the projectile. These include wind, air resistance and momentum. If these conditions did not exist and the only other force affecting the projectile or football was gravity it would be much simpler to solve. These variables, or aspects, of a field goal are exactly why it has (any) so much importance scientifically. Societally, improving field goal distance would have great impact. This would likely cause kickers to be more valuable in the NFL, causing them to be paid more, along with companies like Nike or Adidas who would use improved cleats based on designs that maximize kicking. This could then lead to children learning to kick field goals, based on angles rather than pure leg …show more content…
Set up the ping pong catapult on a table (instructions included in kit)
2. Set up a cardboard goal post and place it across the table
3. Place the ping pong ball on tee in front of catapult
4. Kick the ball through the ball until you find the placement needed to make the field goal (just about) every time
5. After finding this spot, kick the ball adding each material individually, and use all different combinations, with different angles to determine 3 best
