Who is JC Penney in the landscape of retailers today? Is JC Penney a store of the future or a thing of the past? JC Penney stores started as the brainchild of James Cash Penney in 1902 in Kemmer, Wyoming. Originally, JC Penney stores were small, local storefronts offering a variety of merchandise.
In the day and age of shopaholics and fashion trends changing every week, looking into the history of JcPenney, a retail giant, is long overdue. JcPenney was founded by James Cash Penney. Before opening his highly successful retail store, he first worked as a sales person for the Golden Rule Mercantile Company ("J.C. Penney Company,”). After three years as a salesman, the founder of the company and his partner promoted Mr. Penney to a manager and partner of the company. Ultimately, this prompted him to opening his own branch of Golden Rule with a cash only policy which bankers in the area were sure that his plan would fail.

Human beings are social creatures by nature, and socialisation between human beings is the driving force in shaping one’s identity. Social interaction and connection are basic aspects of living. Breast cancer was not always something that could be freely talked about nor was it always a major illness that was endlessly researched on. In Maren Klawiter’s, “Racing for care, walking women, and toxic touring: Mapping cultures of action within the Bay area Terrain of breast cancer,” she analyzes the deep rooted culture of social movements and compares the differences of individual cancer activism fields in the San Francisco Bay area (Klawiter p.2). Although race is a social construct that categorizes people based on physical traits, sociologists argue that it is a social idea rather than a biological one. Social construction of race refers to the process through which society creates and maintains racial categories, meanings, and hierarchies. Sociologists investigate how race influences people's experiences, opportunities, and life chances, and they fight to end racial injustice and promote social justice. Understanding race is important in the criminal justice system because it exposes structural imbalances and injustices that disproportionately affect marginalized populations. "The criminal justice system, in targeting black men through the war on drugs and other policies, has created

For example, in communities consisting of minorities like African Americans and Hispanics felony disenfranchisement unlawfully create a disadvantage for freedom of speech. As stated by Eric H. Holder, JD a US Attorney General “although well over a century has passed since post-Reconstruction …the impact of felony disenfranchisement on modern communities of color remains both disproportionate and unacceptable.” The act of taking away someone’s right to vote notably mirrors the act of forbidding African Americans to vote during the post-Reconstruction Era. Holder refers to the fact that taking away the right to vote essentially withdraws any opinions that minorities
You are most definitely correct Mark. The Three-strike laws are a good way to deter crimes. As stated on the Golden Gate University Law review, the Three-strike law has had a deterrent effect because it reduces felony arrests rates among the class of criminals with 1 strike by 29 to 48 percent (Goodno, 2010, p. 469). Statistically, it seems to somewhat stop repeat offenders. Bill Veeck is known for famously saying, “If you get three strikes, even the best lawyer in the world can’t get you off” (Demakis, 2012, p. 354).
