“The Hurt Locker”
This movie is about soldiers disarming bombs in the heat of combat. When SFC William James joins Bravo Company in Iraq, they only have about a month left of their duty. He surprises his two subordinates, Sanborn and Eldridge, by recklessly putting them into a deadly game, behaving as if he's not concern about death.
The Hurt Locker,” directed by Kathryn Bigelow, scripted by Mark Boal’s war experience and was filmed in Amman. This film is a being critics as one of the best films of the year. With no surprise since Bigelow genre is veteran action movie. This is rated R (suitable for those under 17 years of age only when accompanied by an adult) movie. Most films that focus on war in Iraq is about soldiers returning home, but this one has the audiences in the battle. They did an awesome job at expressing three different type of soldiers on the battlefield. Sgt. James represents a reckless type, does not care about safety of his team members and even himself (in fact, Jeremy Renner, played Staff Sgt. James, did such a phenomenal job that he was on a list for an Oscar nomination); Sgt. Sanborn is all by the book soldier, trust others to carry out their assignments, count down the days he has left on duty; and Sgt. Eldridge is a nervous young soldier, constantly worried that he will made a mistake that will lead to the death of an innocent lives. One of the strength this movie has is they clearly showed that anyone could be a terrorist or a threat. And other strength is that a film was well shot and clearly so that we can easily follow and know exactly who everybody is and what they're doing. To me their weakness is the lack of diversity, need to be more Iraqis in non-military scene. Like every other “Iraq” movie, it has the same shaky camera effect, which shows the effects
