Percy Jackson, the main character in The Lightning Thief ,is following the path of the hero in “Hero’s journey” On Percy’s life a teacher has become his mentor. In the Lightning Thief Percy says “But Mr.Brunner expected me to be as good as everybody else, despite the fact that I have dyslexia and attention deficit disorder and I had never made above a C- in my life” In this quote, percy expresses his feelings on how he is frustrated with himself and his teacher. In hero's journey a quote shows about mentors, “Heroes are almost started on their journey by a character who has mastered the laws of the outside world and come back to bestow this wisdom upon them.” That is how The Lightning Thief is compared to hero's journey.

It is unusual that the dog is still sleeping soundly, this hints at the fact that something is not normal with the dog, the dog would usually be barking. In the story “The Lightning Thief”, Rick Riordan uses imagery to paint clear pictures of the characters and places. He describes his characters to the point where you can picture what they look like, sound like, and even act like. Riordan uses dialogue to show the interaction in between the characters. His exemplary usage of dialogue puts a fun new perspective on the characters communication. Lastly but most importantly he uses an exciting tone to keep the reader interested.
Percy has learned his role throughout the story as he journeys to bring back what was taken from his uncle (Zeus) to keep peace in the world. The main characters this book are Reyna, Nico, Jason, Piper, Percy, Annabeth, Frank, Hazel, Leo, and finally Coach Hedge. The main point in this story is that the 10 people in this story trying to stop the Romans and the Greeks from fighting and also stop the giants (Evil spawns of Mother Earth from rising). These Greeks and Romans are messing up the Gods minds, so they are in split personality of either being Greek or Roman. The group trying to stop the war and the giants decided that they should send Nico, Reyna, and Coach Hedge with the Athena Parthenos (a stolen Greek statue) to reunite peace with the Greeks and unite them with the Romans. This will clear the gods' minds to help them fight with the Demigods (The group that is trying to
