Clark Atlanta University (CAU) provides students several opportunities to be not only empowered, but also resources to motivate and push students to thrive for success. Founders Day Convocation was a useful resource because the event provide students to listen and learn from successful speakers and gave them encouragement to finish school. Although it was a useful resource, Founders Day Convocation overall had only a two fine speakers, it was not organized which effected CAU presentation, and the overall experience was boring. CAU provided several speakers for the convocation, however, only two speakers Betty Clark and Julianne Malveaux stood out of the bunch. Within the first twenty minutes of the event, students were on their cell phones and were not paying attention. The audience was not engage during President Johnson speech because no one could hear him, his life story was not interesting, and the duration of his speech was extensive. On the other hand when President Johnson was giving recognition to certain people, the energy level really went down. As students we understand it is critical to acknowledge people, but it should never be that time consuming and they should have kept it simple and straight to the point. Beside the fact that people were not engage, the music was decent. The music was not exciting, however it did improve the atmosphere of the event. When the choir started singing “Wanna be happy”, the students did become more engage by singing along and clapping. Although this event had a few high points with the speech and the resources that were provided, the overall experience was boring. Ultimately, CAU Founders Day Convocation provided students with encouragement and resources. There were many moments that were significantly important as well as moments that could have been done differently. CAU needed to provide more events such as this one, however, next time it needs to be done
