Francis Drake one of the greatest Navigator and Treasure hunter of his time. Drake Commanding his first ship at age 20, conquering many ports for the Queen of England and finally being the first to circumnavigate the Globe. Francis Drake soon became the Leading privateer to England here is his story Francis Drake was born between 1540 to 1544 in Devonshire England. His family was very poor so he went to live with his cousins in Plymouth England where they were merchants and privateers. At age 18 Drake first sailed with the Hawkins Family but by age 20 he was already commanding his own ship. In 1567 him and his cousin sailed to Africa to become part of the slave trade between Africa and New Spain. However back then it was illegal to be part of the slave trade in New Spain. The Queen in 1577 commissioned Drake and two other captains to sail around the cost of South America. Drake and the other two captains Thomas Doughty and John Wynter did not get along very well. Drake had Doughty beheaded in Argentina while Wynter turned back and headed back two England. Drake still made it around South America and became the first to ever circumnavigate the world however out of the five ships drake took on the expedition two were destroyed at sea one was lost the other turned around and his was the only one who made it. Drake continued his journey going up the cost of the pacific destroying and looting any and all Spanish territories he came across. Drake made it all the way to San Francisco conquering it and giving it to Queen Elizabeth.
