In this essay I will be talking about Francis Xavier's childhood, career, and what history would be like without Francis. He was born April 7, 1506, and he died December 3, 1552 at age 46. Francis Xavier’s field of work was a missionary. He took many trips to foreign countries, teaching the native peoples about god, and Christianity. Some of the countries he taught at was China, Japan, and India. Francis first ministered to the sick and the children, then moved on to ministering to a nearby coast. Francis built 40 churches for the poeple of the Pearl Fishery Coast. Francis then decided to travel to the Malacca and the Maluku islands to convert the natives there. He spent the next two years on the islands. When on the islands a Japanese man named Anjiro was accused of murder and fled to the islands. Anjiro caught up Francis and taught Francis about Japan. While Anjiro was on the island Francis converted him, which makes him the first Japanese person to convert to christianity. Francis then returned to Goa again to attend to his responsibilities. In 1549, Francis left for Japan, and arriving in July that year. The Japanese were the hardest for Francis to ever convert, but he got his job done.
