Frankenstein Songs/Scenes In Frankenstein by Mary Shelley she conveys various types of moods throughout the story. There a plethora of songs that convey a similar type of mood and tone that can be used to further expand on powerful scenes throughout the book. In one scene, Caroline the mother of Victor ,is on her deathbed and gives her dying words to Elizabeth. “ Elizabeth… Allas! I regret I am taken from you; and, happy and beloved as I have been, is it not hard to quit you all?”.(Pg. 24) The main emotion conveyed in this scene is sadness due to the death of Caroline. To a tragic tone once he realizes the grave mistake he has committed of bestowing life upon the repulsive being in front of him. “The beauty of the dream vanished and the breathless horror and disgust filled my heart.”(Pg. 34) This scene will be accompanied by a song that, like the scene has a shift of tone and mood. The music will pick up its pace and temp to showcase the excitement of Victor as he is in proximity of completing his goal. “...The figure passed me quickly, and I lost it in the gloom…He was the murder!” (Pg. 48) The music instantly invokes a suspenseful tone which showcases Victor’s physical and mental state, tense and shocked, as the theories he has been conjuring up are becoming more and more probable. The music will continue to play as Victor, who is closing in to his hometown of Geneva, is starting to connect the pieces how he would have to face his family. Who are more than likely searching for the murder of his brother even though he already knows in his heart who it
