Creature Essay
When reading Mary Shelley’s Frankenstien, one can not help but consider what it means to be human. The term “human” can best be defined as a person who can change the world. In Frankenstein, Shelly tells the story of how the creature was made and the life he lived. According to the author, the creature’s humanity is questionable because he killed Victor's family. The creature in Frankenstein is human because he has emotions and wants a relationship. The creature in Frankenstein is human because he has emotions. In the graphic novel, the creature is spying on the family in the cottage. Shelley states, “Overcome by pain and anguish, I quitted the cottage”(108). Humans express their emotions. In addition, the graphic novel continues with the creature killing Willam and looking at the locket. There is an illustration of the creature looking at the locket. He opens it and sees a picture of Willams mother (114). This confirms the creature is human because he looks sad and then he smiles. All humans have emotions. Also, in Frankenstein, Victor dies and the creature becomes emotional. Shelley claims, “ When I first sought it, it was the love of virtue, the feelings of happiness and affection with which my whole being overflowed, that I wished to be participated in '' (191). This means the creature is human because the creature is showing his emotions to Victor's death. Again this has basic human emotions. Similarly, the creature in Frankenstein is human because he wants a relationship. In the graphic novel, the creature was going to knock on the door to a family he wants to
