What is something that makes someone or something human? It is important to address what humane means. The word humane means to be able to experience emotion. An example of something that could possibly be human is The Monster from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Frankenstein is a gothic novel that revolves around the 18th century. The story focuses on the protagonist or antagonist Victor Frankenstein. Victor creates a monster out of body parts dug up from graves and reanimates them to form a monster. A plethora of reasons have inspired him to make The Monster but one reason that inspired him the most was a lightning strike that he saw when he was a child. Bipedalism is the having of two feet; language is a way of using your mouth to communicate with others; tool-making is the making of tools. With context, the article describes the three traits that humans are built on. A trait that more significantly aligns with the wants of The Monster is language. Language is a human construct that allows a person to become closer to another person that speaks that same language. As The Monster discovered language, it explained that ̈ This was indeed a godlike science, and I ardently desired to become acquainted with it.¨ (Shelley, p. 78, 1831).
