“Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust?”. Once done reading the tragic horror of Frankenstein many question the ethics of modern day science. Have we gone too far in genetically modifying plants and cloning goats? Will we create something that can destroy the planet in one blast? Truth is though, if one doubts how far we should go, we might never know how far we can go. The threat of science has always been exaggerated through horror films, to star wars. Yes there are things that have gone wrong that science has created the atomic bomb, hydrogen bomb, chemical warfare. Recently one may of heard of ebola and zika and how they are working on a vaccination. Before they even knew basically anything about these diseases, there were diseases such as smallpox, polio,yellow fever, and the mumps. These diseases made you look like frankenstein and worst, but continuing developing medicine created these vaccines. Now one may ask well no need for developing medicines vaccines are already created. Now there is where that one would be wrong as many diseases are evolving and changing. Many medicines aren't as powerful as when they started and now their are superbugs which are immune to most medicines. It could be that medicine has made them evolve but to oppose developing more ways of treatment would be wrong. We need more ways of treatment to combat genetic diseases and new diseases that arise. To say saving lives is playing god is like saying taking lives on the battlefield is playing god. Another controversial medicine stem cell was said to be playing god as dead fetuses was needed for it. Though there wasn’t much info on it the media took a grasp of the topic and used it to their advantage. They made it sound like they were killing babies but instead of slowing down research they increased. The info grew but by the time that happened media didn’t give it much coverage.
