Franklin Roosevelt was a very influential and important president in American history who had an immense impact on the American economy and social policy during the 1930’s and 40’s and throughout the future of America, he also shared some ideas with the author John Steinbeck. He idolized Theodore Roosevelt, and took great inspiration from him. He has served as president for longer than any other president in history, serving for three terms instead of the usual two that is generally accepted as the maximum amount of time that a president can serve. He drove America out of the great depression and through the second world war.
He has many monuments named in the honor of his time during his Presidency. FDR was a good leader with many flaws because he created the new deal. He also gave Americans hope. However, he sent many Japanese Americans to Internment Camps. Franklin Roosevelt created the new deal.

One that came to my mind was Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I believe he made one of the biggest impacts on this country as a president. He helped America get through a very difficult time and lead us through more.
Franklin D. Roosevelt Franklin D Roosevelt was born 1882 and died 1945. He was the 32nd president of the United States and the only chief executive to be elected more than 2 terms in office. He served from 1935 to 1945,in 1932 the U.S. was in the mist of Great Depression, people were looking for new ideas, leadership, and hope. So the people elected FDR in hope that he had the answers.. . When he first got in office the first thing he did was sign new bills into laws as an effort to fight of the Great Depression.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the American president during the course of Hitler’s attempts to overtake Europe. Unfortunately he was only allowed to send over money, supplies, and ships as the law prohibited him from sending soldiers. Since Roosevelt was exceedingly, exceptionally, and extraordinarily loyal and honorable man who never swayed on what he thought was right he did everything he could to aid his friends in England. Having gone to Harvard and growing his interest in politics, Roosevelt was involved in school government eventually leading to a life in politics which included being state senator and then Assistant Secretary of the Navy. Regrettably in 1921 Roosevelt became sick with polio.
While he is most popularly known as the president who successfully led America through the Great Depression, creating many beneficial programs known as the New Deal, all doing this while being terribly stricken with polio and spending part of his presidential term in a wheelchair until his eventual death because of the same disease. Out of many of his great acts, his most notable aspect was his ability to unite America, a country often divided of opinion, against a common ally to better the country. His speech, The Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation, was given during a very difficult time of American history. Despite the despicable tragedy that had just struck Hawaii exactly one day before the given speech, Roosevelt had the ability to remind the American people of their bravery and perseverance. His ultimate goal was to convince Congress to declare war on Japan, which they did exactly that literally minutes after Roosevelt gave his famous speech.
When you think of president Theodore Roosevelt some things that usually come to mind are; big stick ideology, and that he was a dedicated conservationist. I chose Theodore Roosevelt not only because his desire to strengthen Americas economic system, but he also believed in political justice and a fair society for the people. Theodore Roosevelt sought to prosecute business monopolies, and by using the Sherman Antitrust Act, he did just that. The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 was the first Federal Act that outlawed prohibit trust. A trust is when stockholders from several different companies transfer their shares into a single set of depositories.
It is hard to believe Theodore Roosevelt was never supposed to become the President due to all of his significant contributions to the office and to the United States. Roosevelt agreed to be the Vice President of McKinley knowing that, assuming the role would end his political career. However, following the assassination of William McKinley, Roosevelt was brought back into politics where he became the President. Roosevelt was different from other presidents in that he saw the office as a legislative leader, brought many reforms that benefit modern America today, and handled challenges in a quick manner.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt perhaps served as president the longest because he had the biggest impact on the United States of America. He was elected president in 1932 because it was believed that Roosevelt, rather than his opponent Herbert Hoover, would be able to combat the crippling economic Depression that the country was entangled in more efficiently. The democratic president took action to bring America to recovery and was very successful in doing so. In his inaugural address, Roosevelt gave hope to dispirited Americans throughout the nation, assuring them that they had "nothing to fear but fear itself.” (MillerCenter.com, “Franklin D. Franklin Delano Roosevelt served as President from March 1933 to April 1945, the longest serving time in American history. He may have done more during those twelve years to change American society and politics than anyone else who followed him in an attempt to live up to the standard he worked so hard for. His responses to the challenges he faced made him a defining figure in American history. Through his ability to empathize with his fellow citizens, to show that he cared for them and would do everything he could to help them made Franklin D. Roosevelt the best U.S President.
