Franklin D. Roosevelt had a few programs of the New Deal. The New Deal program that I have chosen is the Emergency Banking Relief Act. The three things that I am going to talk about are; what the Emergency Banking Relief Act is about, the Great Depression, and the sections.
1. The New Deal was Roosevelt’s set of reforms to better the welfare of Americans. During this time, many Americans were relying on handouts from private charities due to the poor domestic economy. There was no government welfare system that dealt with helping out the people since the president prior to Roosevelt, Hoover, believed a welfare state was bad for America.
When Franklin Delano Roosevelt was inaugurated as president of the United States on March 4, 1933, the United States had begun its passage through one of the most atrocious events in American history, The Great Depression. When Roosevelt assumed office, the economy was in shambles, jobs were vanishing, and many people were struggling. America was in desperate need of help, and once Roosevelt became president, he immediately began working to fight the devastating effects of the Depression. His recovery plan included a multitude of programs, acts, and legislation, called the New Deal, which was broken up into two separate groups of programs, the first and second New Deal programs. For countless Americans, both New Deal programs provided immediate relief in the forms of regulation, basic living necessities, and work.
These administrations helped out both the government and the people. The Works Progress Administration made jobs for the unemployed men and women. According to the American Yawp the projects done by the people were beneficial to the community as shown in the text, “The Public Works Administration (PWA) provided grants-in-aid to local governments for large infrastructure projects, such as bridges, tunnels, schoolhouses, libraries, and America’s first federal public housing projects.” Part of the New Deal was helping in shaping America and rebuilding communities at the same time, not only was the government benefiting from the people, but so were the people. After Hoover’s disastrous term as president, America was desperate for change. They sought for something new to help their economy and get them out of the horrible slump that they’d been in for far too long. In 1933, they put their faith in Franklin Delano Roosevelt and prayed for the best. Roosevelt ended up implementing many policies to try and help the American people. These policies were dubbed as The New Deal.
As Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, "I pledge you, I pledge myself, to a new deal for the American people." Roosevelt created the New Deal in 1933 in response to The Great Depression. He was hopeful that it would bring about immediate economic relief and reforms in the government. It was voted in favor by the American people who wanted to see noticeable change in their country. The New Deal was based upon the principle of a government regulated economy that looked to balance opposite economic interests.
The WPA also gave jobs to build schools hospitals, and post offices. They also provided professional jobs as teachers, actors, and artists. Artists would paint pictures buildings. They also build playgrounds, parks and airports. In the end, 120,000 buildings were made and 500,000 miles of road were paved for future generations.
The Great Depression, which ravaged the country, was in desperate need of aid. Support and a government-style change came with the 32nd president, Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt saw the country was in dire need of help, so he introduced his “New Deal” to the country. The New Deal would be a collection of acts and laws to be passed to support the desperate country. The New Deal brought about positive change and helped the country get through its darkest times.
Millions of previously unemployed American’s went to work as a result of the Federal Emergency Relief and Wagner Peyser Acts. Millions more found employment with the CWA building bridges, roads, and airports. Still more were employed through the CCC planting trees, and battling forest fires. When Roosevelt came along he help pick up peoples spirits (“The New Deal”). Franklin D. Roosevelt had come into office promising a New Deal for the American people, This was used to help address the effects of the Great Depression. Roosevelt had and many others had made many new and successful programs that helped people get back on their feet such as the Emergency Banking Bill, which stabilized the banking system and restored the faith back into the public. The goal of this act was to provide work for employable people on the relief rolls, have a variety of relief programs, and to provide grants from the federal government that helped projects of agriculture, arts, construction, and education. The Public Works Administration Act was created to provide employment, stabilize purchasing power, and help revive the economy. The Civilian Conservation Corps Act was also another act passed in 1933. It's goal was to promote environmental conservation and to build good citizens through vigorous, disciplined outdoor labor. Franklin supported this act because he believed it would keep youth off the city street corners.
Many of them grew hope within their lives to strive for the better. For example, the Public Works Administration was created in response to the Great Depression. The PWA created numerous projects which essentially created those jobs mentioned beforehand. The administration not only created hundreds of jobs but also established a large number of new dams, bridges, hospitals, and schools. (Source F).
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), National Youth Administration (NYA) and Works Progress Administration (WPA) were all agencies that were grouped under the “relief” faction of the New Deal. The CCC would eventually employ 3 million young men to attend to the country’s national parks and wildlife centers through restoration and trail-blazing. The TVA and the WPA employed workers in areas of construction for public gain. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates a 37 percent increase in employed construction workers and a 17 percent increase in employees of transportation and public utilities from 1933-1937 (Levine 7). The NYA, a general auspice of the WPA, employed high school and college-age students.

The New Deal had a very positive effect on the people of America by creating new jobs, gaining trust in banking systems, and getting freedom from the effects of the Great Depression.
