Let's go back to when the Great Depression started. Franklin D. Roosevelt was passing the New Deal in congress which was going to help Americans get jobs. Was it a success in the end? Yes, it was the New Deal (ND) helped and provide jobs and provided hot meals for children. Something's going in that time era were that the stock market crashed which led to having the Great Depression. The 20th Amendment was ratified moving the President's Inauguration date to January not March which we still have today. Over 18 million people in the US are unemployed or lost their jobs. Which this lead to families being homeless and leaving a lot of people in starvation. This New Deal would give lobs to one-fourth of a million of the unemployed. “The congress is about to pass legislation that will greatly ease the mortgage distress…” Which will help people have a better chance of paying for their homes. It would ease the burden of debt that was bearing so heave on millions of Americans. This will help farmers and homeowners to pay off debt on their homes. In this chat he also said that members of congress and Administration owe the US “a profound debt of gratitude…” Also in another interview with a cotton mill worker, he said that “Roosevelt is the biggest-hearted man” the U.S. had in the White House. Roosevelt made Americans feel a lot better even though some had not a lot to eat in their homes. If Roosevelt had not taking a stand and made the New Deal thing might have got way worse and America could still be suffering. Although easing the burden of mortgage distress soon lead to discrimination and only worked for some people and did the total opposite of what they had planned on it
